Alessio Menconi vince il premio “AICS JAZZ” al “Gran Prix du Jazz” nel 1992 e il premio “Eddie Lang” nel 1993 come miglior giovane chitarrista jazz italiano. Tra le sue collaborazioni citiamo Billy Cobham, Jimmy Cobb, Jeff Berlin, Andrè “Dedè” Ceccarelli, Toninho Horta, Felix Pastorius, Albert “Tootie” Heath, Stefano Bollani, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu. In ambito pop: Paolo Conte, Anna Oxa, Gianni Morandi, Tullio De Piscopo, Alexia, Elio ed altri.
Nel 2003 partecipa come unico italiano ad una compilation su Jimi Hendrix in compagnia di Robben Ford, Steve Lukather, Hiram Bullock, Larry Coryell.
Alessio Menconi è l’ unico italiano nella compilation “I più grandi chitarristi jazz del mondo” allegata a “La Stampa”. È docente con cattedra di chitarra jazz al conservatorio “Puccini” di La Spezia e ha prodotto metodi e video corsi di chitarra jazz tra i più venduti in Italia.
