This masterclass is an excellent opportunity to learn how to play outside on both tonal and modal harmonic progressions.
In this masterclass, Emiliano presents several techniques for achieving this type of language, which is useful for both improvisation and composition.
Some of these techniques are known to the greatest musicians who make or have made use of the outside language, such as Allan Holdsworth, Dave Liebman, Pat Metheny and John Coltrane, and others, however, have been developed by Emiliano himself, who has spent many years studying this particular language.
The masterclass also includes etudes (with accompanying transcription), phrasing preparation and enhancement exercises, and an in-depth section devoted to specific considerations about this type of language that will help you in fully understanding it.

Emiliano Bez, a twenty-six-year-old guitarist, was born in the small town of Belluno in northern Veneto.
He began studying classical guitar at age eight and then turned to electric guitar at age fourteen
years old, first playing rock and blues and then devoting himself entirely to jazz at the age of 18.
He studied jazz guitar at the Conservatory of Padua with Daniele Santimone and took lessons with other teachers such as Max Ionata, Matteo Sabattini, Francesco Angiuli, Marcello Tonolo etc.
He consolidates during his years in Padua his friendship with Francesco Angiuli and with the pianist and
Greek teacher Georgios Tsolis, also studying privately with them.
Angiuli himself would later push him to work on his first jazz record for which the professor was immediately available as a musician.
He carried out his first specialization studies (two years) at the Conservatory of Trieste studying with Klaus Gesing, Giovanni Maier etc and then moved to the Conservatory of Vicenza where he currently studies under Michele Calgaro, Robert Bonisolo, Federico Benedetti etc.
He participates in master classes and Workshops with Andy Sheppard, Dave Liebman, Marc Copland, Renato Chicco, Rick Margitza, John Stowell, Hubert Nuss, Charlotte Greve and Lisbett Quartet, Ernst Reijseger, Rembrandt Frerichs, Walter Wolff, Guthrie Govan etc.
Recorded first record as band-leader “Wordless Tales” with Mauro Beggio (drums), Francesco
Angiuli (double bass) , Georgios Tsolis (piano) and Michele Tedesco (trumpet, flugelhorn) at Stefano Amerio’s Artesuono in May 2023, released with Dodicilune in November of the same year.
He released his second band-leader record in July 2024 which was also his first live record,
titled precisely “Emiliano Bez Quartet – Live at Argo16” with Nicola Guidolin (keyboard),
Christian Guidolin (double bass) and Lucio Bolzonello (drums).
He has to his credit the Emiliano Bez Trio with Luca Colussi and Francesco Angiuli (also performing in the
Bez, Colussi, Giovanni Maier formation), Emiliano Bez Quartet with Nicola Guidolin, Christian
Guidolin, Lucio Bolzonello and Michele Tedesco (the latter in quintet formation) and the
Landscape Trio with Christian Guidolin and Andrea Pellarin.
