Stefano Bedetti

Self-taught musician, began playing the saxophone at the age of 14. He approaches jazz by listening to recordings by Charlie Parker, Michael Brecker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Cannonball Adderley, Hank Mobley, Sonny Stitt and all the other great musicians of that era. At 19 he is already on the international scene thanks to the drummer Giulio Capiozzo who inserts him in the historic group “AREA”: Stefano takes part in the recording of the album “CHERNOBIL7991” (SonyMusic), one of the band’s most loved albums. At the same time, an important collaboration begins, which will last almost ten years, with the “JESTOFUNK” group, with which he records three of the most famous albums of the band and allows him to tread the stages and the most important jazz festivals in the world. Since 2004 he has been the saxophonist of the Marco Tamburini International Quintet, a group that sees the participation of Billy Hart on drums and Cameron Brown on bass. In 2007 he released his debut album as a leader, “THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE MOON” (Philology Records), which received excellent reviews from experts and journalists in the jazz sector, published in the international magazines “Musica jazz” and “Jazzit”. The album also receives the nomination for “Best jazz album 2007” at the “Italian Jazz Awards” and affirms Stefano Bedetti as one of the most interesting saxophonists of recent years.
